In general, the hotel was very clean. We liked the sunny patio. It was a few steps away from Carlsbad city center.
All was perfect.
-
no better place than beach terrace. it was not far from everything and the view was beautiful.

We have stayed here before and had a wonderful time. Lovely hotel, perfect location. As usual this was true this trip. The rooms are HUGE and very clean. View was perfect.
The website should have indicated that the hotel was undergoing repairs--lots of noise and workmen running around, hammering, etc. made for difficulty relaxing and listening to the ocean sounds. Also the bathrooms are FREEZING this time of year, no heat vents in the bathrooms which are cavernous and lovely but all (beautifully) done in stone tile and shower-- and the floors were almost painfully cold. The desk staff made no mention of the fact that they did have a few space heaters to loan until we were checking out. This was an especially cold weather time (cold snap, 50s during day, 30s and 40s at night), so you would think they would have mentioned at check in.

Bed was great
Wouldn't help family member deliver champagne to us newlyweds.

We were told when we arrived prior to check in we could pick our room not the truth hab one already picked for us and we're all booked up!!!
-
falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the pacific
For the price I thought he beds could have been a little more comfy. I prefer a bit spongier mattress and I thought these were a tad hard.

My family and I enjoyed staying here, we had an ocean front room which was wonderful, loved falling asleep to the ocean every evening. Also great location, was walking distance to some great restaurants. Thanks for a great stay!

The spa type shower was excellent
Rooms should have a micro wave and better refrigerator
-
The smell of the room, the bathroom, it was a few lights not working and the Tv didn't work either
-
the location was perfect
not insulated well we could here the people above us as they walked across the floor . The volume on the t.v. was set so low we had to sit on the bench right in front of the t.v. to hear anything
-
The room was huge, but the view of the ocean was amazing, perfect, lovely and very relaxing.
-
The people who work there had an attitude. A friend whose parents stayed would not recommend staying there because they had experienced the same attitude.i stayed an they where right. Also was expecting beach view but got an alley view

I loved that the hotel was on the beach and that I could hear the waves crashing. The beach in Carlsbad is so beautiful.
When I showed up, the front of the building was under construction, and the front desk was temporarily in a room nearby. The reception was cold and the keys to my room did not work when I arrived to my room I later learned, that another guest, at the hotel, was upgraded to an ocean front room, because of the construction. I was not!( its not like the hotel was at full capacity) The lighting in the room was horrible, and the shower head, felt like it dripped a drop at a time.I am sure that in the summer, this hotel is functioning beautifully, but there was no effort made, on their part to make the experience nice at this time of year.

Ocean street, big parking
Too loud in my room, from ocean waves and from stuff room, nothing "hot" on breakfast.

Grounds are well kept. Beach is public, but felt private...we had plenty of room and a buffer from others. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Beds were super comfortable. My new wife and I fell in love with this property and the Village. We will definitely return!
We asked the front desk if there was a decent steakhouse nearby they could recommend. The restaurant we were sent to turned out to be Italian, but it was delicious regardless. The shower has next to no water pressure which makes getting all the sand off somewhat difficult.
